This is my sanctuary. When I am playing poker (particularly at a Brick and Morter institution) I am completely and utterly in a world that is all my own. Now let me tell you, I am not a professional poker player. Far, far, far from it. Although, I can say, that I have  made more money than I have paid into.  I am competitive by nature, so poker is the perfect outlet for me. I used to ride horses and race them as fast as I could, jumping them over huge fences, my heart pounding, adrenaline rushing the whole time. When I am “all in” while playing poker, that same rush hits me (and I don’t have to worry about breaking my neck). I don’t use statistics and freakish math skills like most pro’s do (remember I’m not one of them). But, I do practice patience, use some statistical calculations and go a lot by intuition. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not. That’s the thing about it. You gotta learn to go with the ebb and flow. Just like in life.
